Description​

The <clevergy-solar-amortization> component helps homeowners understand the financial benefits of their solar investment. It provides clear visualization of when the system will pay for itself and tracks ongoing savings, making complex financial returns easy to understand.

Requirements​

For this module to display correctly, users must have:

  • A linked solar installation: The system needs access to the user's solar installation data to perform calculations.

  • Configured contract prices: Users must have their electricity contract prices set up in the system to enable accurate calculations based on their specific tariff.

Without these requirements, the module will not render.

Use cases with examples​

1. Initial configuration​

This feature requires a connected solar installation.

When setting up for the first time, people are guided through a simple process to input their initial investment details:

  • Total cost of their solar installation
  • Any subsidies or grants they received to offset the cost

The system then calculates historical savings based on self-consumption and surplus energy sold back to the grid. While we provide estimated figures based on standard rates, users can adjust these values if they have more precise information from previous calculations.

2. Configured module​

Once set up, the dashboard presents a clear picture of the investment performance, showing:

  • Current progress toward complete payback
  • Projected date when the installation will be fully paid off
  • Helpful context messages that explain what the data means

This view gives homeowners confidence in their investment decision and helps them track their progress over time.

3. Monthly performance​

To obtain this, your users will need to have their contract prices in order to make the calculations based on their tariff. This is necessary for obtaining the savings.

After collecting actual production data, the calculations become more personalized. Monthly savings are determined by combining:

  • Value of energy not purchased from the grid (self-consumption)
  • Income from surplus energy exported to the grid

This approach provides an accurate picture of financial benefits that reflects the user's specific energy habits and local tariffs.

4. Messages system​

To make the experience more engaging, the module displays timely messages:

  • Milestone alerts celebrate progress at key points (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% amortization)
  • Monthly comparisons highlight savings improvements over previous periods
  • Practical equivalents translate abstract energy numbers into everyday appliance usage
