Prevention

The Prevention tab provides a performance overview of all installations, helping operations teams detect underperformance before it becomes a critical issue.

It helps to:

  • Identify installations with low performance that may require attention.
  • Compare estimated vs. actual production over a rolling 30-day window.
  • Track performance trends through variation indicators.

How performance is calculated

Each installation is evaluated against its expected production. Performance is expressed as a percentage and represents the ratio between actual and estimated production over a rolling 30-day period.

  • Estimated production is the expected output for the installation based on its technical characteristics and location, calculated using solar irradiance data for the installation's geographic coordinates.
  • Actual production is the real energy output reported by the inverter manufacturer's monitoring system over the same 30-day window.
  • Variation is the change in performance compared to the previous 30-day period, shown as a percentage.

This comparison provides a normalized view of performance that accounts for seasonal and geographic differences across installations.

How to use the prevention tab

  • Review the list regularly, ideally on a weekly basis.
  • Start with installations in the less than 70% category, as they are the most likely to have an actionable issue.
  • Compare estimated vs. actual production to understand the magnitude of the underperformance.
  • Check the variation column to identify whether performance is declining, stable, or recovering.
  • Use the plant code to cross-reference the installation in the manufacturer's monitoring platform for further diagnostics.
  • For newly installed systems, consider that a short production history may result in less reliable performance values.
